FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – September 1st 2015 (Saskatoon, SK) – Local production company, Cheshire Smile (producer of Space Stretch), is proud to announce the launch of a new children’s TV series, Quizzine, airing September 15th on City in Saskatchewan. The purpose of the series is to inspire children to love healthy food through creativity, imagination, and play. The 20 episode series of 2 minutes episodes is designed for children ages three to six. It was filmed with a diverse range of  first grade children in Saskatoon at seven local schools: Sutherland, Greystone Heights,  Holliston, W.P. Bate Community, John Lake, École College Park, and Montgomery. Quizzine is a multi-screen television series. Children react to hints and clues as they guess the identity of a secret fruit or vegetable.  When the mystery is solved a tasty snack is revealed. Families are encouraged to visit the website where they can play games and find recipes for the snacks featured on the show.   www.quizzine.ca

Producer and director Tim Tyler hopes to make it fun and engaging for children to try healthy, natural foods. He explains “Let’s get kids beyond packaged snacks. Let’s look at what we need to do to establish healthy eating habits and expand children’s palettes. With Quizzine, parents and children can go on the website together, watch episodes, get inspired by the foods they see, gather the fruits or vegetables they need and then make a snack together. It’s a complete experience that  develops culinary diversity in the whole family. If we can inspire even one child to try a kiwi or another new food, I’ll consider Quizzine a success.”

Quizzine was originally broadcast in France where the government seeks ways to improve the dietary health of kids and invests in television content that support healthy food habits.  As a result, Jean de Vivre with Image-in Entertainment created Quizzine for Canal + and hired a Parisian chef and food stylist to develop creative and appealing snacks. Cheshire’s producer, Tim Tyler, discovered the series and met de Vivre through  Bejuba! Entertainment, a mutual business partner in the global children’s media industry. Tyler was a natural fit for the show largely  because of his preschool work with Space Stretch and Cheshire’s holistic approach to the creation of fun content that helps kids find healthier lifestyles. With the financial support of Rogers Media, Television Ontario, as well as provincial and national funders, Cheshire acquired the Canadian English language rights to the format and partnered with Image-In and Bejuba! to produce the first season of the show at home in Saskatchewan.

Quizzine will air on City in Saskatchewan (via SaskTel, Shaw Cable, Shaw Direct, Access Communications and Bell TV) beginning on Tuesday September 15th, with a marathon of all 20 episodes on Saturday September 19th. Episodes will be available for national online viewing at www.citytv.com/saskatchewan/shows/quizzine and Quizzine will air in Ontario via TVOKids beginning on Tuesday September 21st.  Original episodes from the French format air on Saskatchewan Radio Canada as well as Canal + in France.
